Police received a tip-off about 2.30pm that two men had been spotted in a BMW reported stolen in Selayang on Friday evening.
A police team in three unmarked cars rushed to Kampung Subang, and the men sped off when they spotted them.
Selangor CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner II Hasnan Hassan said the suspects were cornered near a row of shophouses in Taman Desa Subang half-an-hour later.
"The men reversed into one of the police vehicles, and dented several other vehicles parked by the roadside.
"The chase continued for a few metres despite warnings to the men to surrender. The team was forced to open fire to put an end to the chase."
The car landed in a ditch by the roadside when the 21-year-old driver, Mohd Ebby Shah Riza Mohd was shot in the rib.
