BMW Motorrad has selected RawHyde Adventures, of Castaic, CA to serve as one of nine factory-authorized off-road training centers worldwide. In the United States, RawHyde Adventures, located on 500 acres in the mountains above Los Angeles, will serve as the West Coast BMW off-road training facility. An East Coast off-road training facility is at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, SC. �We are delighted to welcome RawHyde Adventures into our international family of off-road training centers,� said Pieter de Waal, Vice President, BMW Motorrad USA. �They are joining an elite group of factory-authorized training schools worldwide that have the quality and commitment to meet BMW�s high standards.� �BMW�s off-road training centers are important allies in growing our GS market segment by helping riders gain the confidence and skills to enjoy their enduro motorcycles more fully,� added Todd Anderson, Marketing Manager, BMW Motorrad USA.

During the second series, Wayne, who had treated himself to a BMW at the end of the first series as a reward for his hard graft in Germany, was forced to cough up a bounty to get his car back from 'Customs and Excise` after conveniently forgetting to pay the import duty.
The storyline came up with a classic quote that related to Wayne, despite having earned a fortune, being broke and unable to pay and mentioning something along the lines of - you know me, I always live outside of my means!
The reason why I`ve delved back into that era is that it gives a perfect insight into how those with extra money, tend to spend extravagantly, what other reason can there possibly be for a, reputed, �18,000 bar bill that our own Wayne, or should we say our ex-Wayne, ran up at his leaving do?
Apparently, his round at the Whisky Mist club included, eight magnums of rose Dom Perignon, three Quaichs - the house special cocktail - and a methusalem (that's six litres) of Grey Goose vodka!
Would it have been too much to ask for a little more tact and decorum when the rest of us are in the grip of a so-called credit crunch?

BMW'S venerable single-cylinder F650GS has proven there is life in the old dog yet, making a comeback in the States. Last year the single-cylinder motor in the F650GS was replaced by the new 800cc parallel-twin engine, first used in the F800S. However, demand for the old single-cylinder machine that is used by police forces and the military across the USA, has forced BMW America to reintroduce the old model. The single-cylinder F650GS will be made in China and exported to the States, however, BMW has no plans to reintroduce the bike in Europe. .

Long Beach BMW holds a state contract to supply police motorcycles in California, and the police chief is asking the council to approve the $69,344 required to buy three police units equipped with lights and sirens. City staff invited bids from three other dealerships and received one response, from BMW of Ventura County in Thousand Oaks. Its bid came in about $1,800 more per motorcycle than the price offered by the Long Beach dealership, city officials said. In her State of the City speech on Dec. 9, outgoing Mayor Jacqui Irwin pledged city support for local businesses in tough economic times and urged residents to support their local community. Irwin said Friday that she was disappointed the city couldn't get a competitive bid locally. "We have to use government-approved procedures (for the purchase) and we have to be good stewards of public money," she said.
